SPOTCHECK SKC-S (Solvent cleaner/remover ) – 400 ml
Spotcheck® SKC-S is a non-halogenated material used in the penetrant inspection process.
Spotcheck® SKC-S is a non-halogenated material used in the liquid penetrant inspection process. SKC-S is used on a moist cloth to remove surface penetrant from the inspection area prior to applying developer.
General Description
SKC-S cleaner / remover is a clear colourless flammable solvent used as a general pre-cleaner and penetrant remover. SKC-S is ideal for situations where chlorinated solvents are undesirable or prohibited. Its unique composition allows use on a wide range of substrates to remove oils, greases and other contaminants..
Composition
SKC-S is composed of a blend of aliphatic petroleum distillates
Directions
Apply product to a cloth, wipe surface and repeat as needed. DO NOT SPRAY SKC-S directly on the part because penetrant indications may be removed
Specifications Compliance:
AMS-2644; MIL-STD-271; MIL-STD-2132; AECL; ASTM E 165; ASTM E 1417; ASME B&PV Code, Section V; NAVSEA 250-1500-1; General Electric P50YP107; Boeing PS-21202, ISO 3452-2

MAGNAFLUX SPOTCHECK SKL-SP2 (Solvent removable RED Penetrant ) -400 ml
Spotcheck SKL-SP1 is a solvent removable (or post emulsifiable) red color contrast penetrant. SKL-SP1 exhibits outstanding penetrating characteristics, which provide for maximum reliability in locating surface-open flaws and discontinuities. SKL-SP1 can be used over the entire spectrum of industrial applications, where a visible penetrant inspection system meets the requirements for surface-open flaw detection. SKL-SP1 has also been successfully used on non-porous ceramics and similar materials.
Note:SKL-SP1 is not recommended for the inspection of plastic materials, as it may stain, soften or even dissolve the base material under test.
General Description
Spotcheck SKL-SP2 is a solvent removable (or post emulsifiable) red colour contrast penetrant. SKL-SP2 exhibits outstanding penetrating characteristics which provide for maximum reliability in locating surface-open flaws and discontinuities. It can be used over the entire spectrum of industrial applications, where a visible penetrant inspection system meets the requirements for surface-open flaw detection. Typical applications include castings, forgings, leak testing, welds and general metal work. SKL-SP2 has also been successfully used on non-porous ceramics and similar materials. However it is not recommended for the inspection of plastic materials, as it may stain, soften or even dissolve the base material under test.
Composition
SKL-SP2 is composed of a blend of petroleum distillates, plasticiser and an oil soluble organic red dye.
Coverage:
1 aerosol can (16 ounce by volume) covers about 65 square feet SKL-SP1 may be applied by: aerosol, dipping, flowing, brushing, conventional or electrostatic spray.
Penetration/Dwell Time:
The generally accepted minimum penetration time is 2 to 5 minutes. 10 minutes being adequate for most situations, although specific process specifications may require longer penetration time.
Temperature:
SKL-SP1 should be used at temperatures between 40°F – 125°F. Lower temperatures thicken the penetrant and longer penetration times are necessary. High temperatures should be avoided since this can lead to the breakdown of the dye resulting in color fade.
Penetrant Removal:
SKL-SP1 excess surface penetrant can be removed by either SKC-S Solvent Cleaner/Remover or ZR-10B General Purpose Hydrophilic Remover.
Recommended Developers:
A developer is used to maximize the sensitivity and to provide a white contrasting background against which the red indications can be readily seen. Two types of developer can be used.
· SKD-S2 and ZP-9F Solvent Developers are quick drying materials, which may be applied by spraying. The component under test must be dry before developer application.
· ZP-5B Water Suspendible Developer is a developer which may be applied by dipping or spraying; after application the component must be dried before inspection.
Advantages
Spotcheck® SKD-S2 is a non-halogenated solvent developer that meets major requirements for special alloy and nuclear applications.
Spotcheck® is a ready to use suspension of white developing particles in a fast drying solvent. It produces an opaque white coating, which provides an excellent contrasting background for penetrant indications.
Suspension SPOTCHECK SKD-S2 developer — the sorption developer representing the white sorbent dispersed in quick-drying solvents and the absorbing indicator penetrant. SKD-S2 developer has slight spirit smell, is korrozionno inactive. SKD-S2 forms matte white coating which provides excellent contrast background for indicator drawings of penetrant of MAGNAFLUX of the SPOTCHECKTM or ZYGLOTM series. Provides hypersensibility due to the dissolving influence on penetrant in the defect location.
This developer can be used and is completely compatible to all penetrant of SPOTCHECKTM and ZYGLOTM.
